Production
This wine is what we call "Made by Moreno". Darriaud comes from our very own vineyards in Cairanne and is expertly put together by winemaker extraordinaire Julien Dugas. You will not find better value for money - think of this as a cellar door purchase!
Healthy, happy grapes are hand-harvested from very old vines built on the classic pebble-y soils (associated with neighbouring Châteauneuf). The wine is fermented using the native "wild" yeasts and is then aged in French barriques (225l) and demi-muids (600l) for a total of 18 months.
Tasting Notes
This is rich, intense and drenched in dark red fruits. With morello cherry and a touch of cinnamon spice on the nose, soft dark plummy fruit, liquorice, chocolate, a hint of black tea on the palate, this wine is full flavoured and smooth with supple tannins.
