Viñas del Jaro is the heart of the Vinedos Iberian operation. The winery lies in a very prestigious neighbourhood, nearby Pesquera and Vega Sicilia. Unlike a lot of its neighbours though Viñas del Jaro can claim to have won Decanter's most coveted award - that of simply 'the best wine in the world'.
Named after the winery itself Jaros is made from solely from estate grown tinto fino grapes, then aged in a mix of new and 2nd use (after use for Chafandín or Sed de Cana) 300l French oak for 17 months.
Tasting Notes
Pound for pound winner. Bold, ripe fruits complimented by smoke, cedar and a hint of vanilla. Fine grained smooth tannins make it extremely versatile with food but also make it a corker on its own.
