Maray is an ancient grinding mill used in Chilean mining to break down large pieces of rock. The diversity of minerals found in Chile's soil is what gives these wines their personality and character.
A small scale, exclusive winery. Head winemaker, Felipe Müller East, has a wealth of experience from working at wineries all over the world and has won 'Winemaker of the Year' on several occasions. The winery itself is built to be gravity fed, letting nature do the hard work of transporting fruit and wine about the place, avoiding expending any unnecessary energy pumping the stuff around. Clever, eh?
Grapes are carefully handpicked in early April to ensure optimal phenolic maturity. Following a further hand selection process of the best bunches, cold maceration is carried out for 6 days at 8°C. Fermentation in small stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature with manual pigeage is followed by another maceration for 5 days. The wine is then aged for 12 month in 100% French oak barrels.
Tasting Notes
Bright red in colour. Very complex, fresh aromas full of cherries, strawberries, spices and an earthy note. The palate is fresh, with good acidity, delicate and well balanced with a silky texture.
