Production
The Ortega brothers Deigo and Hugo are the mad men behind the planting of Pinot Noir in Valladolid, Castilla y Leon. The secret is the cool influenced vineyards at 1000 metres and the expertise onboard of one Claude Bourguignon, the soil technician of THE Domaine Romanee-Conti. The brothers are gaining a reputation of making the first Pinot Noir of its kind in Spain.
Pinor Noir grapes grown in a particularly cold site 3000 feet above sea level are hand-harvested, de-stemmed, crushed and macerated
between 4 and 6 hours, Fermented in stainless steal deposits with
local yeast at 12°C
Tasting Notes
Bright strawberry, crunchy watermelon and dry chalk. Lovely ripe and aromatic yet still quite focussed and tart. Broader shouldered than a Provence rose, but has the fruit and acidity to balance it beautifully well.
