If the wine world was a school, Can Virgili would be the playground. Family tradition of making quality organic wines meets Alex and Albert Virgilli's unorthodox creative minds.
The Can Virgili Winery is located in the small village of Santa Fe del Penedes, which is tucked away between the coastal hills, southwest of Barcelona in Catalonia. Although known as Cava country, it is also one of the oldest wine growing regions in Spain and makes quality still wines.
The Garnacha tinto and blanco grapes are picked from slopes in the Terra Alta region of Penedes, and chilled in dry ice when brought back to the winery. After a 2 hour pre-fermentation cold maceration, the must slowly ferments at low temperatures for 20 days.
Tasting Notes
Lovely notes of apple and pear on the nose, with a touch of strawberry and ripe grapefruit citrus. A crisp and lively palate with a clean finish of tart apples and pears.
