We first tasted Hermann Ludes’ wines in Rioja with a 1994 Spätlese—astonishing depth, character, and piercing acidity. We had to find them. And we did. These wines are all about electrifying acidity: sharp, uncompromising, and full of tension. Not plush or easy, but precise, structured, and distinctive. When Hermann’s nephew Julian joined in 2016, their commitment was clear—they even sold off the whole vintage as it wasn’t good enough. That relentless focus is what makes these wines unforgettable.
