Bocins Blanco Priorat 2023
DOCa Priorat, Spain
Garnacha Blanca (70%), Viognier (30%) · 2023 · 15% abv
Rich and textural yet finely poised, this Garnacha Blanca layers ripe peach, green apple, and tart citrus with heady floral lift. Creamy lees weight and a savoury, mineral backbone build complexity and tension, finishing long with a subtle buttery edge and precise freshness.
Production
All fruit is hand-harvested. Around 30% ferments and matures in new French oak, adding depth and texture, while the remainder rests in stainless steel to preserve purity. The final blend spends six months on fine lees, developing creaminess and complexity. Just 1,300 bottles are made each year — precision and patience in every drop.
Vineyard
Sourced from terraced plots reclaimed from ancient slopes around Gratallops — “bocins” meaning “pieces” — where vines dig deep into fractured licorella slate. The intense diurnal swings and arid Mediterranean climate concentrate flavour, while meagre soils push the grapes towards structure and longevity.
Pairing
Outstanding with rich, layered dishes: cheese fondue with truffle, monkfish roasted with saffron and fennel, or chicken supreme in morel cream sauce. Its weight and freshness also shine alongside lobster thermidor.
