Bocins Negre Priorat 2024
DOCa Priorat, Spain
Garnacha (65%), Syrah (32%), Cabernet Sauvignon (3%) · 2024 · 15.5% abv
A vivid, deep purple red with aromas of ripe raspberry, red licorice and cracked black pepper, laced with vanilla spice. Concentrated yet balanced, the palate is rich and textured with jammy fruit at its core, supple tannins and a long, gently warming finish.
Production
Hand-harvested grapes are fermented in open and closed stainless steel tanks at 20–24 °C for 6–8 days, with 1–3 days’ extra maceration. Garnacha undergoes carbonic maceration for lifted aromatics. Forty percent of the wine ages six months in 300 L new French oak, layering spice and texture without overshadowing fruit purity.
Vineyard
The estate spans 20 ha across Les Aubagues near Gratallops, combining ancient bush vines with younger terrace plantings up to 350 m altitude. Slate (llicorella) soils, steep slopes and varied exposures yield low yields and intensely flavoured fruit, shaped by Priorat’s hot days and cool Mediterranean nights.
Pairing
An excellent match for slow-roasted lamb shoulder, game stews or wild mushroom risotto. Its depth and savoury spice also complement grilled chorizo or richly sauced Catalan rice dishes.
