d'Mateo Quintas 2024
DO Ribeiro, Spain
Treixadura (70%), Godello (20%), Torrontés (10%) · 2024 · 12.5% abv
The wine is made from a mix of classic Ribeiro grapes with a focus on Treixadura. It’s fresh and inviting, with gentle fruity and floral aromas that make it really very easy to enjoy. It's smooth, yet full of character, with a nice touch of minerality for balance and textbook acidity giving it that Galician freshness.
Production
The grapes are hand-harvested, carefully selected for ripeness, and quickly taken to the winery for pressing. This way, they arrive in perfect condition, avoiding oxidation and keeping all their natural aromas and flavors intact. Fermentation happens at a controlled temperature, and once made, the wine rests in steel tanks through the cool Ribeiro winter. The low temperatures allow the wine to settle and clarify gently, in a completely natural way.
Vinyard
The vineyards are made up of small plots with a variety of soils, ranging from granite to schist and sedimentary types. One of the most typical is sábrego — decomposed granite with a sandy texture and very little clay. Some vines grow on natural terraces and ridges, making the most of the slopes and sunlight. The area sits between oceanic and Mediterranean climates, with mild winters, warm summers, and about 950 mm of rainfall a year.
