Dry Furmint 2019
Tokaj, Hungary
Furmint (80%), Hárslevelű (20%) · 2019 · 13.5% abv
The TR Dry Furmint greets you with bright aromas of citrus, apple, quince and almond. Its mineral backbone and crisp acidity keep the wine taut and lively. On the palate, fresh orchard fruit and citrus flavours glide over a light, textured frame, finishing with a subtle nutty note.
Production
Yields are kept low—about 1 kg per vine—and grapes are hand‑picked in mid‑September. Whole bunches are gently pressed and the juice ferments spontaneously in stainless steel. Roughly 70 % of the wine rests on its lees in steel, while 30 % matures for eight to nine months in 300‑litre Hungarian oak barrels before assemblage and bottling.
Vineyard
This wine comes from the Palota vineyard in Tállya, a south‑eastern slope rising from 180 to 220 m. Vines aged between 15 and 40 years are rooted in volcanic soils rich in andesite, rhyolite, tuff and quartz. Farming has been organic since 2013 (certified 2019), with no pesticides or herbicides; the blend is around 80 % Furmint and 20 % Hárslevelű.
Pairing
Its crisp acidity and mineral edge make this wine a natural match for oysters, ceviche, goat cheese salads, grilled fish or citrus‑glazed poultry.
