Fritsch Pinot Noir Ruppersthal 2023

Pinot Noir (100%) · 2023 · 12.5% abv
A vivid, juicy Pinot: ripe raspberry and dark cherry layered with sweet herbs, eucalyptus and a touch of cocoa. The palate is silken yet energetic, fruit driving through fine-grained tannin; a snap of pomegranate and spice lengthens the finish.
Production
Handpicked and mechanically sorted. Destemmed berries ferment in stainless steel over ~10 days at 25–29 °C; a portion sees whole-grape pressing. Native yeast primary; malolactic follows in used 500 L barrels. Maturation for 12–15 months in seasoned oak; bottled under screwcap with minimal fining.
Vineyard
From the Ruppersthal parcel, a certified organic local site. Vines are 29 years old, trained double cordon at ~4,000 plants/ha with yields around 4,000–4,500 L/ha. The combination of moderate density and vine age gives concentration without heaviness.
Pairing
Duck breast with cherries, rabbit terrine with pickled beet, or mushroom risotto with aged Parmesan. Also excellent with charcuterie and semi-hard Alpine cheeses.
