Kirke - Saperavi (Napareuli) 2022
Kakheti, Georgia
Saperavi (100%) · 2022 · 13.5% abv
Deep ruby in the glass, with aromas of blackberry, black cherry, and a whisper of spice. Bold, structured, and unapologetically Georgian, it carries plush fruit with a fine backbone of tannin — the kind of wine that insists on being noticed.
Production
Fermentation was carried out in stainless steel with selected yeasts under controlled temperatures. Post-fermentation maceration extracted additional tannin and colour before gentle pressing. Maturation with oak influence provided further weight and structure, integrating the variety’s naturally firm character.
Vinyard
Sourced from Napareuli, a region shaped by its continental climate and stony, calcareous soils. The site benefits from long, warm summers and cool nights, which help Saperavi ripen fully while maintaining freshness. Vines are Guyot-trained with cane pruning, a system that balances vigour and ensures even canopy development. Low yields and the natural resilience of the variety make for fruit of intensity and depth.
Pairing
This is your partner for hearty fare — lamb shashlik, slow-braised beef, or even a Sunday roast. It’s also excellent with sharp, aged cheeses (and even better if you’re nibbling them by an open fire).
