La Haut-Medoc de Mauvesin Barton, Haut-Medoc 2014

Médoc AOC, France

Cabernet Sauvignon (100%) · 2014 · 13% abv

A classic Bordeaux blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc, Le Haut-Medoc de Mauvesin Barton is a full-bodied, complex wine with notes of blackberry, cassis and tobacco.
Production

Expertly aged for 12 to 15 months in French oak barrels, with one-third being new oak.

Vinyard

In Moulis-en-Médoc, Mauvesin Barton farms 40 hectares of vines on gravel, clay, sand, and limestone — a classic Left Bank mix that provides drainage and depth. The 35-year-old vines (Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot) benefit from a moderated microclimate created by surrounding woodland and lakes, giving wines with structure, freshness, and balance.

Pairing

This full-bodied, tannic red wine pairs perfectly with a hearty beef stew. The bold flavors of the wine will stand up to the richness of the stew, while the tannins will help to cut through the fat. Enjoy this classic pairing with a side of roasted potatoes and a fresh green salad.
