Phinca Hapa Tinto 2021

DOCa Rioja, Spain

Tempranillo (92%), Graciano (6%), Viura (2%) · 2021 · 14% abv

Phinca Hapa Tinto is aromatic and brisk, combining freshness and perfume with wild flowers, red berries and mild spice. Full‑cluster fermentation adds a sappy, savoury dimension and texture. The palate delivers clean red‑cherry fruit backed by fine‑grained tannins, a hint of eucalyptus and mint and a long, lifted finish.
Production

Whole-bunch carbonic maceration in concrete tanks, followed by a year in large neutral foudre. Minimal intervention, native yeasts, restrained oak influence — Rioja, but reimagined.

Vinyard

From the Hapa vineyard in Rioja Alavesa, planted over 40 years ago on the lower slopes of Sierra Cantabria. Limestone soils, 650 m altitude and organic, horse-ploughed farming ensure vitality.

Pairing

A natural partner for lamb chops with rosemary, anchovies, or slow-cooked oxtail.
