Production
Grapes are hand harvested then gently pressed and lightly clarified. Alcoholic fermentation begins in tank before the wine is transferred to new French oak barrels where it spends nine months before bottling. The combination of oak and bottle age builds texture and depth while preserving the freshness of the fruit.
Vinyard
The fruit comes from Viña Muriel’s own vineyards in Elciego, Rioja Alavesa, at more than 500 metres. The wine blends 60-year-old Viura and 8-year-old Tempranillo Blanco grown in calcareous clay and sandstone The climate is Mediterranean-Continental along with that marked Alavesa Atlantic influence.
Pairing
Built for the table. The wine’s freshness cuts through richer textures, while its oak and volume make it equally comfortable with roast or smoked fish, mushroom risotto, sushi or pork chops.
